Quality Score (0-100) Set minimum and maximum score thresholds. Recommended starting point: 60+ for decent foods, 70+ for strong options.
Protein % (20-59%) Filter by protein content. Higher is generally better for cats as obligate carnivores. The scoring baseline is 50% dry matter protein.
Fat % (7-31%) Adjust fat content - useful for weight management or cats with specific health needs. Typical range is 10-20%.
Fiber % (0-13%) Filter by fiber content - important for hairball control, digestive health, or sensitive stomachs. Most foods are 2-6%.
Carbs % (1-51%) Filter by carbohydrate content. Lower is better for cats - the scoring baseline is 5% dry matter carbs, but most dry foods are 25-40%.
Metabolizable Energy (3181-4765) Advanced nutritional metric showing available energy content per kg. Useful for precise calorie management.
All sliders show the full range available in the database - adjust both ends to narrow your search.

How to Use Filters Effectively
Start with your must-haves
Set the non-negotiable filters first:
-
Life stage (Kitten/Adult/Senior)
-
Category if your cat has specific needs (Sensitive, Urinary, etc.)
-
Bag size if you have storage or trial constraints
-
Any allergies or sensitivities (Hypoallergenic checkbox)
Add quality thresholds
Set a minimum quality score - we suggest 60+ as a starting point, 70+ for stronger options. Add protein minimum if you're seeking high-protein foods (try 40%+ to start).
Refine with nutritional targets
Adjust carbs, fat, or fiber based on your cat's health:
-
Weight management: lower fat, moderate protein
-
High energy needs: higher fat and protein
-
Digestive issues: moderate fiber (3-5%)
-
Low-carb focus: set carbs max to 30% or lower
Sort and review
Choose your preferred sort order (usually Score: High to Low), then browse the results. Click products to see full details, or use the compare feature for side-by-side evaluation.
Tips for Better Results
The most efficient workflow: filter to a shortlist of 5-10 products, then use the compare feature to evaluate them side by side. This is far faster than reviewing hundreds individually. Focus on score, protein source quality, and carbohydrate levels as your primary decision factors.
